In Student Work
Doodling has been shown to engage the brain by stimulating the reward center in the same way that laughing and eating chocolate do! And, if you are a student like me where taking text notes prevents me from learning anything, visual note taking is an eye opening tool. With just a little bit of practice, even the youngest students can experience the blood flow into the brain that fuels creativity and joy. Here are some examples that students can look at to inspire them. A daily habit of writing and drawing in a journal can help with the practice and grease the wheels of creative thinking.

In Project Based Learning
This is the grand puba of Project Based Learning. I was fortunate enough to get my M. Ed in Education Leadership at the High Tech High Graduate Schools of Education. This residency enabled me to learn from the best of the best and be embedded in one of the High Tech High schools for a year. To this day, I crave the talking, meeting and collaborating with leadership at the GSE. Kelly Wilson and Rob Riodan, current and past Dean are tremendous human beings and they walk the talk.
