Ice Cream Social
We had a blast a couple of weeks ago making ice cream with liquid nitrogen, crystallizing fruit and folding origami bowls with Los Angeles Maker Space. The Exploratory brought our intro to circuit exploration and added the chemistry of food as a twist. Children and adults experimented with coke, diet coke, pepsi, gatorade, twinkles, all kinds of fruits and vegetables to see which had higher or lower # of electrolytes ( therefore more conductive ). We watched LED's brighten or dim according to the conductive properties of each food element. The children then wrote down their discoveries to share with other children.
