The Exploratory Presents Summer 2012
The Exploratory summer camps are a special time where children are given time, materials and support to solve problems, realize dreams and live the life of an inventor – an innovator.
Hands Hands Hands
June 25th – July 13th – (3 weeks )
We will explore all the wonderful things that our hands can do. For some, it may be wet and needle felted characters. Perhaps, some will want to add LED lights? Perhaps others will want to add mechanics to the inside to make a dancing friend? For still others, it might mean, making blingy jewelry from parts that we take apart from computers. Is there a pop up paper engineer among our group? Perhaps clay, wire and a stop motion camera is the language for others. What other amazingly wonderful ideas can be realized?
June 25- June 29 -is Full – Please sign up for any of the other weeks.
July 23rd to August 3rd ( 2 weeks )
How do inventor’s work and think? How does our brain work ? What brain tools can we we use to think like inventors? Using a special process called Design Thinking, we will develop empathy for athletes in the summer olympics through research, then brainstorm and prototype an invention that would help those that are away from home. We will use use real tools, materials for building, electronic circuitry, and anything else that we might need.
